Is it safe for a business trip to Bangkok?
My husband has a business trip to Bangkok in mid January 2011. Is it safe to go? While the U.S. has raised The travel warning for Thailand, at the site of the UK government of the alert is still valid: There is a high threat from terrorism in Thailand. Bomb and grenade attacks have been indiscriminate, including places visited by expatriates and foreign travelers. Sporadic attacks continue in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Respondents of others are incorrect. This travel warning would be laughable if it makes me so angry. How many people are getting off of this beautiful country, peaceful, friendly by these totally ridiculous scare tactics? A great threat of terrorism? In the provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala in the south, yes, there is some threat. But is not Iraq or Afghanistan, and the threat is limited to these counties, which are far from the beaten track, and far from Bangkok. There is a high threat of outrageous traffic jams in Bangkok, warn her husband about it, because that will be the biggest threat to their peace of mind than he finds. Her husband will be in greater danger of terrorism in London. Hmmmm, the British government did not mention that. I wonder why not? Be careful in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani?? That is as absurd as that … surreal. Sorry to say, but have the people responsible for this warning of their heads up their asses. If your husband stays away from any meetings political, which are rare or nonexistent in those days (but could possibly increase in number), which will be safer than if at home in Olde cheerful England. But do not worry, everyone and their grandmothers know where these events are, and there is no way I will walk into one by accident.

Besides, there are daily trains that connect Udon Thani to Bangkok and Nong Khai. However, trains are generally very slow than other means of transport. For getting around the city, you can use public transportations like Samlors (three-wheeled bicycle taxi), Tuk-tuks, and Songthaews.
Udon offers some very beautiful sights and scenes. Laos and Ban Chiang are some of the good places to visit near this city. Ban Chiang is famous for its Bronze Age excavations. Ban Nakha is a village 15 km away from Udon Thani popular for selling home-woven silk and cotton garments. Pu Foi Lom Eco-Park is also located at a distance of about 40 km from this place, and serves as a good point of attraction. Besides, there are several large markets including night markets that can be surfed for interesting souvenirs. For the food buffs, there is a wide range of buffet restaurants and other eating joints where you can treat your self well.
