Someone else initiated a thread in 2009 with his query re: Air Asia and Udon Thani to Vientiane. There is a nice account from 2009 in a blog called Leave nothing but footprints that presented the blogger’s traveling experience in getting to Nong Khai: Train from Ayutthaya to Udon Thani, and to Nong Khai somehow?
