bangkok to udon thani flights
In December 2009 i will have to go to Vientiane from Bkk. Does anybody know a good company with low fares to do that?
A I think you’ll find that there’s no such thing as a low fare to Vientiane from Bangkok. Only two airlines, Thai Airways and Lao Airlines fly that route and both are very expensive considering the distance. You can save quite a bit by flying into Udon Thani and taking a bus from there, if you don’t mind spending the extra time. Air Asia, Nok Air and Thai Airways fly to Udon Thani from Bangkok.
I didn’t know only those companies flawn that route.
It’s a valuable information, thanks!
bangkok to udon thani flights
I’m thinking of going to aisa in august for 4 weeks. I would like to visit vietnam, laos and thailand. Has anyone any suggestions of where to go, what to do and what to see???
A so many things to see and too short of a time.
also it depends on your travelling style. i love backpacking in these countries. they are so interesting
if you are backpacking, fly in to bangkok.
in thailand, spend about 4 days to explore the bangkok and nearby attractions like ayuthaya and pattaya. then, take a train and spend 4 days in chiang mai, chiang rai and udon thani (north thailand) – less hectic, different culture and full of adventure and nature.
from udon thani, take a bus ride to vientienne, in laos and spend 1 day there. take a bus ride to vang vieng (2 days) and then luang prabang (2 days).
from luang prabang fly pacific air (budget airlines) to hanoi, vietnam. spend 4 days in hanoi to explore the charmingly chaotic city, visit neighbouring attractions like the perfume pagoda, ba vi nat’l park, hoa lu. then spend 2 days 1 nite at halong bay on the junk. take a train to ho chi minh city (hcmc), stop at danang for 2 days 1 nite at a beach resort. then continue to hcmc. spend 3 days at hcmc and discover the city and visit the cu ci tunnel and temples. spend 3 days 2 nite in the mekong delta to visit can tho and my tho. then back to hcmc.
take a flight back to bangkok and back to your country.
this will give u the glimpse of life in these countries.
fyi, i spent 3 weeks in vietnam alone covering north and south parts. 2 weeks in laos alone. 2 weeks in cambodia alone. and thailand is just too big.
if you travel luxuriously, just buy the many package tours sold at the hotel of each country.
Various websites with flight search engines may sport a timetable of sorts detailing the schedules of flights departing Bangkok for Udon Thani, but don’t rely upon them. It is best to take a look at the “live” flight status chart of the Udon Thani International Airport that is displayed for the current day. As I work upon this post in a Friday (May 24, 2013) edit, I see that for the current day, 11 flights were or are set up to leave Bangkok for Udon Thani. The carriers are Nok Air; Thai AirAsia; and Thai Airways International — no other carriers operate between the two cities. That may change in the future, of course; but that is how it is today.
The same flight status chart is posted at UdonMap.com here. Just ensure that you have the “Arrivals” indicator selected. And do not take to heart the other information on that page, for it has not been updated in a long, long time. For example, it says that there are seven flights per day from Bangkok to Udon Thani, but as I already said, I see 11 of them for today on the actual live flight status chart. Other outdated information includes the claim that Nok Air no longer flies the Udon Thani – Chiang Mai route; and that Lao Airlines is operating a flight involving Luang Prabang twice a week. Neither statement is true.
A word concerning the baggage allowance. Without resorting to verification at all three of the carriers’ websites, I do not know what the facts are. But a website called WhichAirline.com has the weight allowance posted for the three carriers here. One would be safer to confirm it at the official airlines’ websites, though, I think. Still, it is an interesting quick guide for comparison.
Many websites contain outdated information concerning the Udon Thai International Airport. Refer to that daily flight status chart. If a website claims that a flight is in operation between Udon and some other city that you are surprised to read of, but you do not see one listed for the current day on the flight status chart, then obviously the website making the claim is uninformed.
