This is the E-Sarn Thai Cuisine in Singapore.
As the Website says:
Welcome to E-Sarn Thai Cuisine, a friendly neighbourhood eatery that is part of the small family of restaurants originally set up by Achara (or Neng, as she is known to regulars). The original restaurant (E-Sarn Thai Cuisine at Sixth Avenue) had its humble beginnings as a hawker stall named “Neng’s Kitchen” in Farrer Road Market. Today, you will still find the same delicious home-style Thai food prepared by native Thai chefs, who are hand-picked and trained by Neng herself.
With four locations, they must surely be doing the right thing!
Still…what of the location given here? Definitely Sixth Avenue! Did that location close since the February/2009 review? It is not included in the restaurant Website as one of the four locations.
Here’s someone’s very favourable blog entry about the restaurant back in early 2008.
And yet, the first negative opinion here, and not five months ago.
I am now unable to locate the reference, so perhaps I am wrong; but I thought I saw it said that the original location started up in 1994. If that is true, then the business is certainly to be commended.
It is not easy making a lasting success of a restaurant.

Despite the Khamlas staying on and working with my wife after she bought the restaurant from them in mid-March, she despairs of making it profitable. She has now put out notice of her willingness to sell.
I deeply sympathize with any small restaurant owner who cannot make ends meet in this business. It requires long hours, lots of work, and expenses out of hand that are unplanned and not at all infrequent — often, money paid that can not possibly be accounted for on a balance sheet.
