Peculiarly enough, I noticed a shop house being advertised for rent on UdonTalk — the ad was posted April 19th, and cited the property’s location as Kumpawapi. Doubly peculiar is that what appears to be the same individual was seeking a shop house anywhere outside of Udon Thani City, according to another ad that was date March 13 — just over a month earlier, in other words.
What to make of that?
A couple leads located right within Udon Thani were posted on the UdonMap forum in a thread begun this past February 23rd that was titled Older SHOPHOUSE Wanted. And on May 27, this thread appeared: 3.5 Story Shop House in the heart of Udon Thani For Sale 3.9. Another thread that was advertising a shop house for rent appeared on January 7: Shophouse for rent. And in August of last year, a two-page thread began that was titled Cost of building a shophouse?
Charles Law speculated on the merits of building one on some property he was advertising in his site. There is no sense giving the actual link to the page, for if the property has been sold by the time you read this and check it out, the ad would most likely have been deleted. What was likely the same property is being advertised on another of his sites, PropertyMax Thailand. And still another of his sites — PropertyMax Udon — is advertising one that is for sale in the City.
Someone referred to the Irish Clock as being just a converted shop house — it was actually a favourable review on TripAdvisor from May 28, 2009. I cannot comment, for my last visit to Udon Thani predated the advent of the Irish Clock, and thus I have never actually seen the place.
Martello Realty has a few ads for shop houses.
As I said already, there is no sense in me posting direct links to any of the advertisements, unless you were to land on this page and access those web links while they still point to ads that exist. The UdonMap forum is different, of course — the thread links will remain valid until the day that the UdonMap URL format changes, or the site itself shuts down.
