When I first saw this phrase, I thought it was an error, for I wasn’t aware of any udon thani hotels belonging to the Isan Boutique Collection of hotels. But I have since learned that the application ’boutique’ is not the reserve of those few hotels in that Collection.
Boutique hotel: A boutique hotel is one that is generally not chain-affiliated, features an intimate, stylish appearance and provides impeccable amenities. Also referred to as lifestyle or design hotels, the trend and related name began in the 1980s by Northern Americans. Although many boutique hotels are small, ranging from single digit rooms to less than 100, some in major cities have well over 100 rooms.
HotelThailand.com gives their own very good description of what a boutique hotel is supposed to be.
If Roommillion is any guide on such matters, it would seem that the Ban Chiang Hotel is one such. After all, it is the only hotel that displays when a search is done under the heading Udon Thani Boutique Hotels.
I suppose, then, that the Centara Hotel and Convention Centre (the old Charoensri Grand Royal Hotel) must qualify. Note:

I don’t see it included, though, in the list that follows the above blurb. And perhaps that’s deliberate — the main Website for Centara Hotels and Resorts has this:

The whole feel of the guesthouse is very private. One guest actually said he felt he was staying in a private villa, referring to the way his accomodation opened on to the swimming pool terrace, and how he couldn’t hear the coming-and-going of other residents, like that of larger hotels.
Probably the most amazing thing about the guesthouse is the price of a room, you get all the trimmings of a 5 star hotel (swimming pool, gym, etc.) yet you pay a similar price to that of a hotel – just 450bt per night.
The Guesthouse has virtually everything you need at your fingertips, from toiletries (…and parasetamol) to Motorcycle Hire.
The Pool side bar and restaurant serves food from 8am to 9pm and is said to offer the best value around in Udon Thani, serving up authentic Thai dishes from just 49bt, and with a good selection of Western foods many of them just 99bt.
