I have little doubt that anyone coming to this post is probably seeking information on just what hotels are available in Udon Thani. However, for the very first time, I came across a bungalow rental reported to be about 15 minutes outside of the City. The daily rate depended upon the month: $7 (U.S.) daily from September to December; $10 (U.S.) daily from May to August; and $14 (U.S.) daily from January to April. If the ad still exists, you can access it by clicking on either photo below.
As for other accommodations, there is a very good compilation on this page at TripAdvisor that I have never come across before, either. I am accustomed to these travel sites just doting upon — at best — a mere handful of the major hotels. This is definitely a very good list. Note: they also have a page of Udon Thani B&Bs / Inns.
TravelPod has a list of 14 hotels, and Travelfish has some, too.
Another large collection of the accommodation possibilities is on a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) website. I didn’t count them, but it claims to detail 36 different places. This is also new to me — I have not come across this roster before.
I was not going to mention this “Thai Norwegian resort” located about 15 minutes outside of Udon Thani, but it appears to be located in the village area where my wife Jack (Supranee) grew up. I think of her village as being called Nong Soong or similar, so Non Sung is certainly close enough. The resort is apparently called Pooky & Knut, and is introduced as a forum thread on More Udon. The description is lavishly illustrated — you just have to exercise a little patience for the page to load. The forum’s full accommodations section is here.
