Thai House Isaan
Thai House-Isaan-Guesthouse is located near the Mekong, about 60 kilometres from Mukdahan. It has only been in operation a very few years, and is owned by an Australian (“David”) and his ‘Phu Thai’ wife (“Noi”). From what I have read on the website, the place sounds like it would be a wonderful experience for those visitors to Thailand who may have an abiding cultural interest in the places they visit.
Recycling and organic foods are the order of business at Thai House-Isaan-Guesthouse. I can truly respect that!
At any rate, you can learn about the place yourself by visiting its website. Just take note that it is currently closed due to some sort of family issue that has David & Noi staying in Australia; the anticipated re-opening is scheduled for March 1, 2012.
Now, that having been pointed out, I came across this notice within Thai Visa Classifieds:
Expired ad
The ad with the headline ‘buy thai house isaan. Land and Guesthouse or just the house for removal ‘, has expired on Sunday, 19 June 2011.
Whether there is any relationship to Thai House-Isaan-Guesthouse — or if the above ad disclaimer was simply an unfortunate coincidence of wording, and has nothing to do with the resort — I am unable to say. However, this was apparently some of the content of that ad:
The Thai House Isaan Guesthouse is for sale. We will sell the main home for removal to your land or sell the whole package including swimming pool, and 3 small bungalows.
Sadly unfortunate if it has gone out of business.
There is a website called Thai House Design Ideas that offers just that. Anyone planning on having their own home constructed in Thailand might profit from a look at this Swedish-owned site.
If you spend any amount of time on forums relating to Thailand, you will probably have come across at least one progress report of a Farang who was involved in having his own home constructed — some of these reports have a wealth of photos. Something similar was done by a retired American when he and his Thai wife initiated construction on their home something over a decade ago — you can have a look by visiting Waynes Web World. With the completion of their home, the next step was development of a farm. Good stuff!
