Very few Websites have their main focus upon Udon Thani; however, even if there were many, I believe that I would still rate Udonmap as foremost among them. It is a mine of information.

Various businesses (Expat affiliated) in Udon Thani have their own Websites, but I would not consider them to be Udon Thani-specific, and thus will not try to list them.
And although I left out the Thai sites, I admit that I sometimes do browse through them simply to enjoy the photos. Without a functional knowledge of Thai, it can be something of an adventure just clicking on the links within these sites, just to see where they may take the hapless foreign visitor.

Udon Thani is the capital of the province of Udon Thani in the northeast (Isaan region) of Thailand. Located 560 km from Bangkok, travel to the city is easy by plane, train and bus lines. Udon is a transportation hub, which connects to all major cities. The province itself is one of the poorest regions in Thailand with agriculture (mainly rice and sugar cane), which accepted its main industry in addition to its transportation hub. The city itself is never to crawlyour arm behind you and turn you on a roller coaster ride, you must shake the bag and products to you for life and then you will be pleasantly surprised by what it has to offer.
The Chareonsri Shopping Compact is a good place as any to start, a modern shopping center in the inner city full of everything you want to buy what you could, clothes, jewelry, accessories, DVDs, mobile phones, souvenirs, household appliances, photo shoots, and many others article. A supermarket, restaurants, fast-Restaurants, money exchanges, cinema and bowling make Chareonsri one of the best shopping centers outside of Bangkok.
Try early morning visit to the Nong Prajak Park used by the locals for jogging and exercise, walk around the lake and admire the flowers and plants, then eat Thai-style breakfast in one of the many stalls opposite. If you like full English breakfast then you will not find better than what is offered at the Irish Pub in Soi Clock Sampantamit Road(5 minutes from the Mall Chareonsri) an air-conditioned bar with an extensive Thai and Western menus. Tours of the city is easy with the numerous small buses, Samlor (like a tuk tuk) and cycled two-seater car.
Some hotels have swimming pools that offer a pleasant way to spend the afternoons, the hotel Napalai one that is open for use to non-hotel guests. If you rent a car, then the 50 mile drive east to Ban Chiang Bronze Age archaeological site, theSome experts have dated back to 5000 years or travel 50 km north of the border town of Nong Khai. In Nong Khai you can sit in a restaurant on the beautiful Indo-China market, overlooking the Mekong River, eating delicious grilled fish and Laos overlooking the water.
Evening time in Udon and you really are spoiled for choice by the plethora of Thai and Western restaurants, 10 minutes from the shopping Chareonsri Compact walk to Centre Point Night Market (near the station) ispass through several restaurants. The night market is a must place with its abundance of stalls and a wide range of products if you are hungry still see there are numerous food stalls and restaurants sit here. Centre Point also has a cluster of bars where you can sit and drink and view sports or music on a giant screen. For the more adventurous revelers then towards Soi Sampantamit Road and there should be enough bars and action to make your evening be pleasant. All in allUdon Thani offers plenty for everyone, but have to shake you out and products that come out, and wake it and you will see Udon is worth a visit … my opinion …. Udon Thani is a good place for singles to spend a week or two, ideal for couples and families with three, four days ago, if you were to travel to or from Northern Thailand.
