Ahh, yes…but “local” what?
I have referred to the site UdonThani.co.uk previously in relation to local Udon Thani blogs, but it also has some useful links to other local information. So does the companion site expat Udon thani Thailand.
There are any number of sites offering local weather information on Udon Thani, such as this one and this one.
Wikitravel claims that “no local songthaews have been spotted near the airport”; and that the Chareonsri Center “is known buy local thais” as “Komplek.”
Interested in knowing the local time in Udon Thani? Lots of sites give it, such as this one.
This site advertises that it carries “Local news for Udon Thani, Thailand continually updated from thousands of sources on the web.” However, the claim is very exaggerated.
Although it is only irregularly updated with an entry, the Gecko Villa Thailand Travel Blog offers “news, views & updates from this Northeast Thailand vacation villa rental & its guests. Interesting snippets on Thai food, Thai travel, local customs and history.”

Ban Chiang Pottery
This ancient style pottery is made according to the findings of the Ban Chiang Archeological Site in Nong Han District, which is a World Heritage Site. Ban Kham Or, is Ban Chiang pottery sculpture center and one of several villages where handicrafts are made. It is located along the Udon Thani-Sakon Nakon Road. Ban Pu Lu is a pottery-painting place.
Hand-Woven Fabric
Na Kha Village, which is 16 kilometers from the province on Udon Thani-Nong Khai route (Highway 2), is famous for its hand woven cloth called “Khit” of which various types of products are made and sold.

This Virtual Tourist Webpage headlines Udon Thani Local Customs, but there were only two entries already several years old. However, there was a link to a nice collection of Udon Thani photos — apparently 138 of them as of the date of my report.
I provided a link earlier to the local touch claimed by the Gecko Villa. Something similar is being made for the Green Gecko villa. Very appealing!
Finally, although I do not know if they are being updated. Udonmap presented a directory post on the forum in 2007 of all manner of important numbers, including local emergency numbers.
