I spent an hour researching this topic before typing out a solitary word on it. This research has led me to recognize that I cannot possibly do any kind of justice to the field of oil within Udon Thani Province boundaries. And that being so, I will restrict myself to doing little more than identifying the PTT PCL Udon Thani Oil Terminal with an address given as:
15/1 Na Sathanee Rotfai Road, Makkang (Markkang), Muang District, Udon Thani 41000
It’s so-called “Scope” is given as: Receiving, storage and distribution of fuel (gasoline, high speed diesel, aviation fuel) and lubricants.
Wikipedia has only a brief description of PTT Public Company Limited (PCL). The company’s website has an old news article from 2007 discussing planned seismic surveys with an eye to well-drilling if said surveys justified it: PTTEP Starts Petroleum Surveys in the Northeast, Aspiring to Add to the Kingdom’s Petroleum Reserves. You will notice that Wikipedia gives a different company website, however.
More technically, I found that PTT PCL Udon Thani Oil Terminal has a TIS (see Thai Industrial Standards Institute) of 18001 that — if I am interpreting this correctly — was given it by the Certification Body (CB) MASCI (Management System Certification Institute) — possibly since May 29, 2009.
TIS 18001 certification standard seems to be equivalent to OHSAS 18001 (see Certification International, with a regional representation in Thailand as Certification International Thailand). That certification relationship was suggested to me in this Certification Bodies in Thailand .pdf file — refer to #18 (MASCI).
Finding and linking to all of these references has taken me another couple of hours, so I think I shall call a halt at this point. I would absolutely love to delve deeply into this whole topic, if there was any profit in it for me. But there is not. Despite the advertisements on my blog, I have never actually received as much as a cent in affiliate income, and my blog has been online now for nearly two years. Not very successful, what? But I loved being in Udon Thani when I made my three trips to Thailand some years back, and wish it had been possible for me to live there. If ever reasonably soon my economics meet with some miracle and I am able to afford to bid good-bye to my liabilities that keep me in bondage to my Canadian ‘lifestyle,’ I would love to attempt to become an Expat there.

Luangpu Shi – Roi Et, Luangpu Ben – Sakhon N, LP Bunmee – Udonthani, LP Lee – UdonThani, LP Utthai – Nakon R, LP Chanrian – UdonThani, Than ajahn Suchart – Pattaya / Chonburi, Than ajahn Wanchai – Udon Thani). 5 of them are Luangta Maha Bua disciples.
Arahanta (normally spelt Arahant). This is the highest stage of spiritual attainment, which a noble disciple reaches through the complete eradication of all defilements, including the five higher fetters, which are attachment to the realms of form (ruparaga), attachment to immaterial or formless planes of existence (aruparaga), conceit (mana), restlessness (uddhacca), and ignorance or delusion (avijja). An Arahant, or Worthy One, is said to have accomplished what needs to be accomplished: being perfect, the Arahant has no further need to practice for his own sake. Although continuing to serve fellow beings, teaching and giving them advice, the Arahant accumulates no fresh kamma, working not for his or her own good but solely for the good of others. Being free from all kinds of defilements, the Arahant lives in perfect calm and equanimity, not given to such negative emotions as lust, greed, jealousy, anger, and aggression. The Arahant becomes one with the Buddha in purity of heart, in wisdom and compassion. This is the ultimate achievement, the highest spiritual development any individual may strive for. It is the same state which the Buddha attained in his enlightenment. The Worthy One transcends the conditions of birth and death. At the final moment of his present life, he is said to pass away “like an oil lamp being extinguished,” with no residue of kamma remaining to cause further rebirth. He lives a useful life, dedicating himself to the service of mankind, yet he is not attached (in the sense of selfish grasping) to blame and praise, happiness or unhappiness. In this way he truly represents the ideals of a holy life.
