udon thani nightlife
You will be hard pressed to match Udonmap’s Udon Thani Nightlife page if you are looking information on this sort of thing. However, please do note that many of the links there take you to the forum Nightlife section where it is necessary to be a forum member in order to gain admission.
In July(2010), the TripAdvisor ‘forum’ had the question asked concerning Udon Thani nightlife:
Seems likethere are plenty of bars and plenty of girls in the bars
i am planning staying a week there is this to short or to long ? what is the price of beer cheaper then Pattaya.
Responses to questions like this are always interesting. It’s amazing how outrageously antagonistic people can become when they can pen an attack, rather than have to say it to their target’s face.
The ThaiVisa Forum has a thread begun in August (2010) posing the question Nightlife For Farangs In Udon Thani main area?
Wikitravel gives a good summation of the nightlife scene:
Udon Thani has a wide variety of Karaoke bars, go-go bars, nightclubs and English and American styled pubs. The area around the Charoen Shopping Complex (locally called Komplek) houses the majority of these.
* Dong Dea Moon. With the sea of motorbikes out the front, this a favourite with locals and has regular appearances by some big-name Thai folk acts.
* Harmony Bar [3]. Run by a Thai/Dutch female singer. A bar which sometimes has live music entertainment, and also serves food.
* Irish Clock, [4]. Authentic Irish pub in the middle of Udon. Two pool tables. Lodging also available.
* Steve’s Bar. Run by an English ex-pat and his Thai wife, serving Western and Thai food as well as a selection of International beers and spirits. Just around the corner,
* Tong’s Bar. Gay-friendly bar, draws Thais and foreigners, with cheesy Thai pop blaring from the speakers.
Beyond this, bars tend to open and close by the month, if not by the week. The club scene is fairly uni-dimensional with a generic crowd going to the 2 or 3 clubs in town. The best are housed in the basements of the Charoen Grand and Napalai hotels.
There is a Website called Udon-Nightlife that I first mentioned some months ago that is supposed to be devoted to this very topic, but it still does not seem to be flourishing. I expect that Udonmap is just too tough to compete against.
Beyond the Mango Juice has a section on Udon Thani nightlife displaying three fairly recent posts on the subject.
Infoudonthani.com has an article that was posted at the start of the year (2010) called The nightlife area of Udon Thani: Thanon Adunyadet.
The Udonthani.co.uk forum has a languishing section called udon thani nightlife that unfortunately hasn’t had an entry in about 1½ years.
Something similar has befallen Nongkhaimap forum’s section Nightlife in Udon Thani.
Anyway, I hope I have covered enough resources to make you feel somewhat prepared for any visit to Udon Thani you may be planning.

Udon Thani Time

Nice place to have a unique nightlife experience. But it is more wilder and erotic if you spend night in Pattaya, Thailand. Out of this world kind of nightlife experience.
I expect that it all depends upon the individual’s comfort zone. I have never been in the thick of Pattaya, although I did skirt it in the company of three Thai laides who were showing me around on my first trip to the country in early 2003. Our actual destination was to be Koh Samit, as I recall.
The Udon Thani area just happens to have my heart, and is the only place where I know people.
