GeckoGo has a helpful layout with their Planning a Trip to Udon Thani. However, each section of that feature requires input from other travelers, and hardly anyone has bothered offering anything. The page is all part of their Udon Thani Travel Guide.
I did not realize just how diverse the activities were that the Gecko Villa offered for anyone staying with them.
In my opinion, UdonMap is the best resource for learning about the City and Province, and for getting ideas on what to do there. Do not neglect the forum.
Although Udon is the place I most would like to be, I have only been there three times in my life. And I never needed to make any plans about getting there, except for the first trip in January, 2003, when I did have to arrange my own flight from Bangkok. People met me at the Udon Thani airport who had already arranged a hotel for me. On each of my second and third trips the following two years, the woman who was to become my wife met me at the Bangkok airport, so I never even had to concern myself with finding my own accommodations in the capital city. In fact, she was familiar enough with Bangkok’s wilder side that we tended to book into a small hotel along the main drag where the Nana Entertainment Plaza is located, and thus I always had an extremely enjoyable couple of days around there before we moved on to Udon Thani where she hailed from.
I think this is part of why I feel so nostalgic for Thailand — I never had to work at enjoying myself there!
