In the process of researching possible albums of Isaan photos that may be available on the web, I happened upon a site I do not recall landing upon before. If it is Isaan images you want, then please check out the five-page album of 73 photos on freebeerforyorky.com. Another 10-page album contains 159 images. There may well be some duplications, I would expect.
Can Stock Photo has 44 images as of this writing, but they are small — the purpose of the site is to sell its photos, so the images are deliberately small to make any copying frustrating. I’ve seen at least a few of the same photos on other stock photography sites, so I don’t think I’ll bother listing any more of that type — I am sure the same suppliers flood as many of these sites as they can.
There is a site called IsaanPhoto that one would expect to display numerous images of Isaan.
Isaan.biz has a few photos.
Diverging a bit, the Thailand-based TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) web site Ajarn has a blog post submitted back on August 1, 2007, that puts ‘Isaan images’ into words — from the perspective of a teacher. I am not a teacher, but the effort did resonate with me — I loved Thailand as no other place; yet when Jun 18 of this year 2011 arrives, it will have been six years since I last left that land of dreams.
Ajarn also has an almost epic account of what an American experienced in planning and then relocating to Isaan to teach: Dave’s Journey. The story begins with a post from November 9, 2007, and has continued right up to this very month of May.
If you scroll down this page of the blog China Bamboo Gate to July 29, 2009, you can read a rather different viewpoint on what comprises the author’s notion ‘Isaan images.’
Actually, blogs are a great place to come across photos of Isaan.
So are web photo-sharing sites like Flickr. It even has a group of members calling themselves Isaan Images.
Photobucket is another album-sharing web site.
You could also try doing a search on Photo.net and see what comes up; or Webshots; or even fotocommunity.
Picasa is a huge resource.
And forums — check out this long thread on the Thai Visa Forum that is titled Images Of Isaan A selection from our members’ gallery — it was begun back on November 20, 2005.
Make the effort — you shouldn’t have any trouble locating photos to enjoy.
