Research on this post led me directly to the novel Blundering Around Isaan, written by Englishman Peter Jaggs. You can easily enough find out about it by doing a web search, but the common synopsis is this:

Although the following site has the most annoying pop-up, its owner has presented his vision of behaviour on the part of Isaan ladies…or at least, bar girls: A little manual for the handling of Isaan – Ladies. I shall leave it to you to ponder its merits.

Certainly, these two pieces do describe one type of “Isaan behavior” that does exist — barflies be warned.
Of related interest, you may enjoy this short piece that is supposedly from an Isaan woman published on Stickman’s guide to Bangkok, and titled Said I Love You But I Lie.
Here is a more noble look at Isaan behaviour — a post from the end of this past June: Villagers Fight for Law Dean’s Rights. And from fairly early in August, another type of behaviour: Voter Turnout in the Northeast Below National Average.
In 2007, an entirely different sort of behaviour was published after giving it an in-depth examination — that of AIDS patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). The publication was designed for health personnel, so it might be stiff going for the average reader, although it is not excessively technical. However, the full title may be what is most intimidating: SELF-EFFICACY AND HEALTH BEHAVIOR DEVELOPMENT OF ISAN AIDS PATIENTS RECEIVING ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY: A PROACTIVE STRATEGY FOR HEALTH PERSONNEL.
Returning to the subject of relationships between Isaan women and Western men, the personals site Siam Honey presents an article titled The Second Class Citizens. It speaks most optimistically about the possibility of a successful marital union of a Thai and Westerner. However, if you attempt to go to the site quoted as the original source for the article, you will find that GeoffandAmy.com is no longer active. A few members of the inexplicably defunct forum managed to find one another, and launched a new forum called Thai Married that has a similar purpose — a venue for people in a Thai/Farang relationship to share experiences, and maybe offer some support.
Delving a little further into relationships, the website Isaan Lawyers has this very detailed background document on Family Law of Thailand.
ThaiWorldView.com gives some insight in this page on THAI FAMILY, here focusing on the status of women.
Other Isaan behaviour could involve mission work. Although it is not for me, there are always well-meant people to whom this would appeal:
Missions Opportunity in Northeast Thailand
Looking for a great opportunity with a great team and a wonderful missions organization? How about serving with OMF International on the Northeast Thailand (called Isaan) team.
I suppose the Opportunity Foundation may be quite similar, although I do not get the impression that it is at all involved in any kind of overt missionary work. In fact, it sounds more to my liking or style.
You may not care to delve into this 2002 thesis sponsored by the Evangelical Covenant Church Thailand Mission titled THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-DIMENSIONAL APPROACH TO CONTEXTUALIZATION IN NORTHEAST THAILAND, but at least have a look at its Appendix C: Summary of 25 Thai Social Values.

I will conclude by linking to Australian James Mitchell’s Review Article: Waeng Phalangwan – A Lao-Isan perspective on Thai Lukthung. I think in referencing a music style, it touches nicely on what helps makes Isaan behaviour distinct from that of other regions of the country.
This post could easily go on and on, for behaviour is such a broad category. But since it is impossible to cover all aspects of what might be deemed to be Isaan behaviour, I will take leave here.
