ang bansang thailand isang

The Filipino phrase “ang bansang Thailand isang” apparently means (according to Google translate) “Thailand is a nation.”

Feeling curious to see what might turn up by doing a Google search of the Filipino phrase, I came up with nothing. I could find as many as three of the four words together, but not all four.

The phrase itself was provided to me as a supposed search term. So why, then, doesn’t the phrase jump right up? I can only find portions of it.

It’s certainly no big deal to me — I just found it to be odd.

If a search is tried using the translated English phrase “Thailand is a nation,” page after page of exact examples are brought up.

Witness:

  • Thailand is a nation that has been catapulted into modernity. It’s relatively strong economic development and booming tourist industry mean that English teachers are in high demand. Volunteering will take you away from the from the popular tourist destinations of Koh Samui and Phuket and introduce you to more traditional Thai communities.

  • Thailand is a nation that prides itself on its Theravada Buddhist heritage. But Buddhism in Thailand is blended with a brew of Hindu, animist, Khmer, pagan and other beliefs. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the country’s 82-year-old constitutional monarch, spent time as a Buddhist monk but also retains astrologers and Brahmin priests at court, as is tradition. So it’s no wonder that coup plotters, Prime Ministers and lawmakers have frequently consulted fortune-tellers before making important decisions. Performing dark rites to increase one’s power and defeat your adversaries is as pervasive among the political class as bribery and vote buying. Even Thaksin, who became a billionaire from satellite services, computers and telecommunications, once declined to answer a reporter’s question because “Mercury [was] not in the right house.”

  • Thailand is a nation that loves its holidays and celebration. From Children’s Day to the traditional Thai New Year, Songkran Day, every month in Thailand seems to have at least one special holiday. Here’s a description of some of the best festivals in Thailand.
  • Thailand is a nation divided. A colour-coded political conflict, broadly between royalists, urban elites, bureaucrats and the military on one side, and mainly poor anti-establishment protesters who feel politically and economically disenfranchised on the other, shows no sign of resolution.
  • The Kingdom of Thailand is a nation of approximately 62 million people. The government is a constitutional monarchy with 76 administrative divisions. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the Chief of State, while Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is the head of the government. The Thai legal system is based on a civil law system with some common law influences. The Central Intellectual Property & International Trade Court (IP&IT Court), introduced in 1997, has exclusive jurisdiction over disputes involving intellectual property. Thailand is a signatory to the Berne Convention and is a member of WIPO and WTO but is not a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty, Paris Convention, nor the Madrid Protocol. The literacy rate in Thailand is over 93%, and there are approximately 24.7 personal computers per 1000 people in the country.
  • Despite an excess of great food, Thailand is a nation of thin people. Learn why and how to apply their very different principles to your life.
  • Thailand is a nation of awesome diversity offering newly-weds an abundance of opportunities to ensure the most romantic holiday possible. For beach-lovers there are the islands of the South and their crystal blue waters and memorable sunsets. Then there is Chiang Mai, the ancient capital of Lanna, which is famed for its bewitching lush greenery, pleasant temperatures and culturally distinct origins. Dating back centuries, couples can relive romantically ancient Siamese glories while walking hand-in-hand through the UNESCO world-heritage sites of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. Or, resting on the banks of the Chao Phraya River “The River of Kings” is the capital Bangkok home to the captivating gold-encrusted Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
  • The home to the earliest Bronze Age civilization Thailand is a nation with a rich and colorful history. Visitors looking to take in some of this extraordinary past can visit the ruins of Ayutthaya, which was the old capital from around 1350 until it was sacked and destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. While only a shadow of the glory that once was, the old city still shows off its former magnificence and visitors can feel like the King of Siam as they wander through the former Royal Palace and nearby ancient temples. Located about 50 miles north of modern day Bangkok the visit to Ayutthaya Historical Park is certainly worth the visit.
  • Located in the heart of Southeast Asia, Thailand is a nation of picturesque beaches, rainforest jungles and majestic mountains. It is a land defined as much by its arresting natural beauty and spectacular wildlife as its rich history and ancient traditions. Because of its idyllic climate and amazing biodiversity, Thailand is often called the “Jewel of the Orient.” It is home to more than 10,000 different flowering plants and about 10 percent of the world’s animals. Among these is the Asian elephant, a symbol of Thai royalty.

A couple simple-minded WikiAnswers:

Q.
What nationality of Thailand?

A.
Thailand is a nation.

Q.
Is Thailand a nation?

A.
The Kingdom of Thailand

Yes, Thailand is a nation and it is a Parliamentary democracy and Constitutional monarchy. The head of state is His Excellency King Rama IX Bhumibol Adulyadej, regarded as the guardian of all Thais.

  • Thailand is a nation divided. A colour-coded political conflict, broadly between royalists, urban elites, bureaucrats and the military on one side, and mainly poor anti-establishment protesters who feel politically and economically disenfranchised on the other, shows no sign of resolution.
  • Gross national product (GNP) per capita is regarded as the most visible index of the economic level of a nation; Thailand is a nation in which the GNP has changed dramatically. Thailand has experienced steady economic  growth with an average annual economic growth rate of 7%, except since the Asian economic crisis of mid 1997. Per capita GNP increased from US$ 80 in 1960 to US$ 162 in 1970, to US$ 563 in 1980, to US$ 1543 in 1990, and finally to more than US$ 3000 in 1996. However, the negative impact of the economic growth crisis is clearly evident by a fall of the per capita GNP to US$ 1847 in 1998. This resulted in a decline in the annual economic growth rate to 29% but was expected to improve to 3.5% in the year 2000.
  • Thailand is a nation ready to embrace a Kinko’s franchise program. By introducing Kinko’s as a specialty and hi tech printing shop, it will be possible to capture a large portion of that nation’s printing market. Kinko’s franchising in Thailand will be successful because we will aim for a training program in-country which emphasizes the training of Thai-born managers and introduces the latest printing equipment. It also focuses on accessibility to the latest personal computers and computer programs as well as offer courses in personal computer use, and will be driven by an advertising blitz which will emphasize our accessibility for the growing middling and small entrepreneurial class.
  • Last week, an Abac Poll of 1,228 households in 17 provinces across Thailand found that 84.5% of respondents regarded cheating as a normal business practice and 51.2% said corruption by government officials was acceptable as long as it improved their living conditions. Similar surveys conducted over the past few years reached essentially the same conclusions regardless of respondents’ geographical regions. Such findings clearly point out that Thailand is a nation made up largely of thieves who will cheat at every opportunity.
  • Thailand is a nation of islands, though most of them are quite small when you compare with other island nations such as Indonesia or the Philippines. Many, like the Similan Islands, are not inhabitable due to lack of fresh water. Others are protected by the government and still others offer accommodation. Some, like Phuket and Koh Samui in some ways feel like a small city they are so modern. Thailand’s islands are a bit of a mix; some make you feel as you’ve stepped back in time so little have they changed, others feel busy and bustling. We have a little bit of everything.
  • Today, Thailand boasts a rich economy while becoming the world’s largest exporter of rice and a major exporter of silk and electronics equipment. Its capital city Bangkok is known as the Venice of the orient and is a popular destination for many world travelers. From its white pearly beaches along the Malay Peninsula to its shopping malls in downtown Bangkok to its emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace Complex Thailand is a nation offering a smiling face for all the world to see.
  • Thailand is a nation of Southeast Asia. It is a constitutional monarchy; however, unlike other constitutional monarchies, the king has enjoyed considerable influence on national politics. The country is dominated by the armed forces and national police.

It’s surprising what can be learned from searching on one simple phrase! I only used Google — I didn’t select from any other search engines. But even so, I just selected examples from two pages of search results; yet there were “about 41,200 results” to my search!

I shall conclude this unusual post once again wondering why there was not one single exact instance of “ang bansang Thailand isang” to be found?
