I have almost entirely gone blank on how to deal with this post. An “Esarn tour” could range from actual tour offers by travel agencies or the like; the experiences of one or more persons who have undertaken a tour of Isaan; or even the itinerary of an entertainer or some other public figure.
I have no ties to any travel agencies, so I don’t feel obliged to undertake a promotion of an Isaan travel package. However, anyone considering focusing on Isaan for a holiday could start their education at the website Visit Isaan which proclaims: “Virtual Tour of Issan Esarn north east Thailand” and “Where to visit on your Issan Esarn north east Thailand holiday. What to look for and places to visit on your Thai vacation.”
Perhaps I will dare to risk suggesting that you take a look at the website of Homestay Paradise (Thailand) — read about them here if you “are interested in cultural exchange and international living.“ From what I can tell, their prices are just about nominal — many tourists spend more for one night’s accommodation than what I can see is being charged for the two to five day packages that are being offered. And there is an E-Sarn Tour.
Something similar — that is, the homestay-style tour — is offered by Khon Kaen-based Thaitraveldreams. One of their promotions is Homestay Khonkaen.
The final suggestion in this category that I will make can be seen at the website of Lamai Homestay and Guesthouse, “situated in Ko Pet, a rice village in the heart of rural Isan.“ They were profiled in December 2007 by Pattaya People Weekly: ESARN HOMESTAY WINS INTERNATIONAL GREEN TOURISM AWARD.
