Brian & Usa: Nong Soong House-Warming Party (2007)
Brian hails from Ireland. He married a beautiful Thai lady by the name of Usa who happens to live in Nong Soong, my wife’s village. During Jack’s lengthy visit back home in 2007, I let her know about a bash Brian & Usa were going to throw for themselves in celebration of the building of their new home. Brian was generously inviting any of the Farangs who frequented the Udonmap.com forum who might happen to be in the area on the planned date. And he kindly let me know that my wife (Jack) was welcome to attend, since I was confined here to Canada.
The event — which suffered an initial postponement due to a health setback Brian experienced — took place on August 4, 2007. Jack had been tentative about attending, but eventually she said that she would. She was going to meet up with our English friend, Gary, who had made Udon Thani his home in his early Retirement.
Since this party was on such a large scale, it occupied a fair bit of the neighbourhood. I don’t know who else may have gone with Jack, but her two sons definitely did — this was the year prior to Immigration Canada granting them Visas to come to Canada, incidentally.
Apart from a lot of food and drink, there was also entertainment provided by Thai singers and some dancing girls.
Now, whether it was that Jack went to this affair late, or if she did not think to try filming any of it until after nightfall, I do not know. Almost everything in the subject video is unfortunately very dark and indistinct, with some exceptions. At 20 minutes in length, probably the only people who might be interested in sitting through the entire sequence are going to be attendees.
It doesn’t help too much that Jack’s two sons had more than a hand in the filming. I, for one, would have enjoyed seeing considerably more of the dancing girls — something I would have focused on filming, but which two young boys wouldn’t have been much taken with.
The video does have a decently long clip at the end featuring Brian valiantly attempting to entertain his guests with some vocal stylings that are perhaps mercifully faint due to the high-pitch and volume of the Thai musical accompaniment.
This link to Brian & Usa’s House Warming Party will bring up the video in its best quality, since it is hosted here on my site. But it will take several minutes to download and play — perhaps up to 10 minutes, in fact.
Veoh is hosting the file, as well; however, you will only be able to view the first five minutes if you do not have their special viewer downloaded.
