Researching this post has led me to two interesting sites that I do not before recall visiting, and I would like to recommend both.
The first is Pong Lang: Thai Esan Classical Music. The site only has a few pages, and none are a long read. If the traditional music of Thailand appeals to you at all, you should be able to find some appreciation for the site — particularly The Origins of Thai Ethnic Musical Instrruments. The parent site is actually The Best of Thai Classical Music. Evidently the site is intended for viewing in Windows Internet Explorer; my Firefox takes the text at the bottom of the page and overlays it upon itself, making a full muddle of it. But in Explorer, the text is perfectly orderly.
The second site I want to bring to your attention is Thai language and Lao language. The section on Comparing the two languages was especially interesting for me.
But if it’s just an opportunity to watch and/or listen to music that you are seeking, then give Lao Music Paradise a visit. I bet you’ll be there a long while!

In closing, I want to voice my appreciation to a blog post at Holy Warbles for bringing the site WeLove-music to my notice, even if I absolutely detest the pop-up that is thrust upon a visitor every time an attempt is made to move somewhere else on that site.
