This post title is not my idea — I have no music or comedy video to show that I deem to be an “Esarn classic.” Rather, the title of this post is actually the profile name of someone I came across in Windows Live Messenger:
I think it’s a very unusual identity to use. However, whomever this person is, he or she has posted absolutely nothing in their account — there is no Profile, nor are there Photos or Documents. So either lol_ESARN_CLASSIC_lol บ่จำสัญญา has just newly assumed this identity, and/or intends something more at some point in the future; or else he or she has entirely lost interest in doing anything further with the account.
Google translates บ่จำสัญญา as “I took the contract.” I wonder if that merely implies that this person took lol_ESARN_CLASSIC_lol as an identity in Windows Live?
It also seems to relate to translations such as “I’m promised” or “I remember the promise.”
I may be off track, but is there a chance that it is actually the song being played in the following video, and is considered by some to be an Isaan classic of sorts?
If this is the song Mai Leum (“Never Forget”), it was written by Suraphol Sombatcharoen, who died in 1968. Mai Leum evidently figured largely in a movie called Monrak Transistor that starred Supakorn Kitsuwon.
However, since I do not understand Thai, it is very likely I am on the wrong pursuit, and that the Isaan classic that the Thai บ่จำสัญญา might be referring to has nothing at all to do with the song Mai Leum.
