Some of the Many Songs of Isaan
Every now and then I will come across this video that features an amazingly beautiful lass in a form-enhancing bikini — she is throughout the video, and no one else appears in it. I just love watching her. The song may be Isaan, but her origins are open to question — in my opinion. But many Isaan ladies do practice keeping their skin as white as they can, so it is possible that she may have been born there. At any rate, the song was posted onto YouTube March 20, 2007 — I am doing this edit on January 10, 2012, so I wonder how the lovely maiden is faring today these nearly five years later?

Just like the first video, this next one features one single bikini-clad girl throughout, except that this one is more believably Isaan — despite the ocean beach setting. She has almost bronzed skin tones — I love the darker colouring of Isaan women, probably because strive as I always have every Summer here in Canada since I was a teen back in the 1960s, I cannot retain a tan. She also seems much more robust than the first girl. As for the song itself…were you at first as wondering as I what “Black Magic Woman” had to do with an Isaan song?

Isaan songs can be rather haunting to even Farangs, as this post in The Paknam Web Forums back in 2009 that is titled Desperately seeking Isaan Song evidences. I would like to view the video the poster wrote about.
The subject also featured into an UdonMap forum thread from 2010 titled Isaan music or Isaan lam plern .
And yet another forum — one I had not before heard of — called asianfuse featured a video in a post towards the end of 2008 that was titled Nice Isaan song. As far as I can tell, the band performing the featured song in the video is Pong Lang Sa On. They sure looked good in that presentation.
A Farang by the name of Russ Pennington came out with an album a few years ago called Isarapop that has a track on it called “Isaan Song“. I don’t know if he was performing as Surat/O2B, or if that is the name of a group or band he was part of. I won’t link to anything, since all links lead to sites trying to sell MP3s; but you can find it easily enough by doing a search.
