Thailand’s Isaan covers a large portion of the nation — roughly, one third of it. I think the map of the region which impresses me most is the one available at Thailand-Ticket.de, even if Nong Khai is still portrayed as comprising the territory that is now the small province of Bung or Bueng Kan. But Bueng Kan only became a province on March 22 (2011), so the omission is perfectly understandable. Note that this same Dutch website has some translated information and a tourist map of Isaan here — click on any of the map’s icons to see what location they represent.
For a map clearly identifying the various provinces of Isaan, this one from Isan.Sawadee.com is to the point:
As you can see, it portrays Bueng Kan. As I mentioned the last time I posted about maps for Isaan, Wikipedia is still listing this new province in its article on Isan as province #20, but it does not yet have it identified on the map it provides — click on the image for a clearer view:
By the way, Isan.Sawadee.com has some maps of the various Isaan provinces and even their capital cities, if you care to seek them out. This isn’t the case for every province — but the website is still worthwhile checking out what’s on offer.

A very good and clearly hand-drawn map of Isaan is available at Chiang-Mai.org. If you click on the map, it will more than fill your screen. Or just look at it in quadrants by clicking the links on that page to the various sections of the map — each will open up into a new screen.
If you can handle Google maps, the blogger behind this site has been trying to develop comprehensive coverage of Isaan by updating sectional maps as he visits the various areas of Isaan — each small map can be enlarged by clicking the link below them.
Similar Google maps of a few areas of Isaan are available at Isaan.com — look for the Maps indicator in the bar across the top of the page, and select whichever of the “Places of Interest” that are offered in the drop-down that will display when you place your cursor onto it.
These are the major isaan maps; and as I said, I’ve posted about maps of the region before. If you’re inclined, you can seek out some of those earlier posts, but the map content won’t vary all that much.
