I do not read Thai, but this Thai site seems to me to be concerned with discussing the merits of a 2554 (2011) wedding: Truelove Wedding Udonthani. As you likely know, Thai people are generally never very far from their superstitions. At any rate, the site appears to be affiliated with a photography studio that specializes in weddings: True Love Wedding Studio. This site, too, is in Thai, so I cannot offer anything about it that you cannot see for yourself.
An English friend of mine who has retired to Thailand married a Thai lady and they had a fairly elaborate wedding that included sitting for photographs days ahead of the actual ceremony itself. I do not know if that is common practice or not. My own marriage to my fiancée in Udon Thani was simply that — a visit to the appropriate civic centre where we spent what seemed a few hours dealing with documentation. The process finally climaxed in being summoned into the office of a serious-looking uniformed officer where the official certification was finalized, and the marriage certificate was signed by this same man who then broke into a big smile and offered his hand to me in congratulation.
There was not so much as a single photograph of the long visit at this building, despite the fact that a number of my fiancée’s family members were present. It never occurred to me at the time — I suppose, due to how rather dreary the process was, particularly since I had no idea of what was going on. The uncle-by-marriage of Jack (Supranee, my fiancée) had charge of our entourage, having led us there from their Nong Soong village. He had some capacity of official village stature, and was donned in a brown uniform I had not seen him wear before or since; and it was he who guided us through the various stations in that city building complex where our marriage was enacted and registered that day.
It was — and still is — my hope to one day have some sort of elaborate celebration of my wife in her village, should the time ever come that I am able to afford it.
I located another Thai wedding studio in Udon Thani that was mentioned here on at a Thai site called Promote108.com. The studio is called Vichit Digital and Wedding.
This seems to be yet another — it is a photo of the place on a site called Panoramio that was posted by someone going by the username Bride Dresses 2011.
There are of course sites catering to Westerners who may wish to get married, but who possibly have little familiarity with the logistics. One such would be Marry Thailand. I wish my economics would have allowed for the elaborate recognition I would have liked my wife to have had.
Other options include staying at a place like BB Villa, who advertise themselves as hosts for a wedding. The Centara Hotel & Convention Centre also offers to host weddings, as does the Prajaktra Design Hotel.
The UdonMap forum has a recent two-page thread begun last October that has thus far ended with some June posts — titled Wedding dress and suit, it is an interesting and informative read.
