The Isan Saga:
The Life and Times of the People and Region of Northeast Thailand… A Neglected People in a Forgotten Land.
This is the name of a 2005 thesis submitted by Ronald L. Meyers to San Diego State University. The photo above the title is actually a link to the webpage hosting the thesis. Please note that the author seems to keep his webpage updated, for he was very aware of the deadly protests of last May, and includes a link to a Boston Globe pictorial containing a good number of extra large and very graphic photos.

Please do have a look at this ETHNOGRAPHY OF THE ISAAN PEOPLE, a document (in .pdf format) presented to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary as a paper on Cultural Anthropology. The proselytism angle is secondary in this one.
