To my recollection, I have not come across a good article in English devoted to the sieng isaan band, although I would expect there have likely been some in Thai.

This huge group of farce-style, slapstick, and even burlesque comics, very good singers, and eye-catching dancers are very popular, and especially in Isaan, as you might imagine.

But I really do not know anything more about them.

Their YouTube videos are embedded all over the Web — Heck, I’ve got one below myself.

“Talok” seems to be the title of a series of concerts by the Sieng Isaan Band — or else it’s simply the name of a series of DVDs and VCDs. I’m not really certain.

At any rate, they can be purchased quite reasonably from a few Web-based sources such as eThaiCD. A few examples follow.
