Someone has set up a Facebook account as Esarn language, no doubt hoping to one day capitalize on the term via a marketing promotion. The “Info” page of that Facebook account is openly a copy of some of the Wikipedia information that can be found under the entry for Isan language. The full Wikipedia article appears to be quoted on the “Esarn language” Facebook page titled “Wikipedia.”

Some sort of travel agency — it does a superb job of saying very little about itself — that is based in Udon Thani owns the website Visit-Issan.com (the link will take you to its page where it has a small glossary heralded as a sampling of some of the Thai Language In The Real Thailand). I have tried to locate the name of the agency (perhaps it is just “Visit-Issan?”), or find contact details other than a mere E-mail address, but I cannot seem to locate anything else.

A blog called Everything In Thailand “Esarn Food” has a brief overview of the Thai language some might find instructive enough. A more comprehensive language presentation on the site is filed under Thai language — want to be able to quote the hours on a clock? More of these short lessons can be accessed in the collection of websites that I have offered excerpts of, just ahead of the video down blow.

The website SiamSmile offers more on the Isaan Dialect.

Of course, very relevant is Wikipedia‘s entry for Lao language. And Omniglot also contains considerable information on the Lao alphabet.

The folks behind Living Hour (SNBR: Spiritual But Not Religious) are promising an English-Isaan Dictionary, and I am quite looking forward to its eventual availability. But for now, you can check out what they have on offer at this page of their Learn Thai-Isaan Language Books.

Of course, there are a considerable number of Thai language tutorials available, but we are not discussing Central Thai, after all. The post is about the Esarn or isaan language. If you wish to learn about formal Thai (Central Thai), you should have no problem finding books and other material giving the instruction.

I am going to leave things at that, but offer some vaguely related snippets from a few other websites which might entertain or interest you (added in a post edit of March 2, 2012):
