Decent indoor and outdoor badminton courts can be found on Asawamit road Map J15.
The Udonmap forum had a brief — one partial page — thread on the subject back in 2007.
The Administrator of the udonthani.co.uk forum made a single-entry post about the udon thani muay thai camp in 2009 wherein he made this statement:
The facility boasts 2 extensively equipped weight training gyms, a superb swimming pool, 400 meter Olympic style running / jogging track, 2 tennis courts, several badminton courts, a full size soccer field and a 1.5 km jogging route.
However, the link provided for the camp no longer functions, and he neglected to provide any other suggestions on location.
A Baptist Church project outlined here says the following:
Future Projects
1. Baptist Primary School & Kindergarten cum one-stop family recreation centre. The Holy Living Foundation (HLF) has purchased 50 rais of land located 10 km west of Udon Thani town.
This will be the first bilingual school in Udon. Starting a bilingual school is important, as no school in Udon is effectively bilingual. Children can be reached by the Gospel in this school.
Recreation facilities such as basketball courts, football fields, badminton courts, swimming pool, pond, jogging track, gym, etc. will be constructed in the centre. This is to bring in the parents of the students, partly to build relationships with them, as part of efforts to reach them….
Unfortunately, there is not a date to be found in relation to the article itself, nor the project.
There is apparently such a thing as an Udonthani Badminton Club, but the site being referenced in entirely in Thai.

Obviously, badminton is actively enjoyed by some of the local Udon populace.
I see that The Badminton Association of Thailand had Udon Thani on their Tournament Calendar 2010 in January, and it’s there again for late October.
I’ve no idea where in Udon Thani these young female students are playing (Rajabhat University?), but I can see that my own contribution wouldn’t extend beyond making a first serve.
